"They are raising themselves."

There wasn't much to disagree with there Jody.
Latch key kids. Schools' out at 3, Mom's home at 6.
Gotta hunt down where they're at, who they're with and when they'll be home.
They often stay at homes you don't even know the parents, let alone the kids.

Most of it's a crap shoot.

When my kids were in grade school, I signed a permit every year for the principal.... that he could PADDLE my kids, if they got out of line. And I let them know it.
And they never were a problem.
The kids that got into the MOST trouble growing up were those that were raised in the upper middle class, where they had everything handed to them, and could come and go when they pleased. They had no boundaries, were fawned over with all the right clothes, sneakers, vacations and cars and never had to work a day in their life.
