Not sure of your point.
Is it that nobody ever got killed by land mines or snipers during WWII while riding in a Jeep? Is it that Americans regard casualties as reasons for immediate capitulation in a war nowadays so we feel the need to go to amazing lengths to protect our troops? In five years we've lost fewer troops than were lost in single battles in WWII.
So what are you driving at?
It can't be about Iraq, since it's long been established that you have no idea what's going on over there, or you wouldn't be stuck in the "Minuteman" mode that even most anti-war people abandoned well over a year ago. Most of us know who's doing the killing over there, and that most of their targets are Iraqis.
