Cheney says torture's no big deal - we learned a few things!

What did we learn? It hasn't been revealed publicly. Obviously it wasn't important enough to bring to justice the culprit behind Sep. 11. Bin Laden's still out there. But I guess we're supposed to believe Cheney and other Republican apologists for US torture when they say that it's worth it, we learned something. The trouble is, you could take any piece of information derived from these barbaric techniques and somehow deem it "important". If the former chauffeur of Bin Laden revealed under torture that Osama's 3rd wife prefers doggie style then you could deem that "important" information for some far-fetched future CIA operation...

WASHINGTON - Former Vice President Dick Cheney says the U.S. government gained valuable intelligence from its aggressive interrogations of high-value detainees after the September 2001 terrorist attacks.

The government's methods are described in documents newly released by the Obama administration and have drawn new scrutiny over what might be appropriate treatment — or what might be construed as torture.

Many of the old interrogation methods — including so-called "waterboarding" — have been banned.

But in an interview with Fox News Channel, Cheney said Monday that what hasn't been revealed publicly is what the U.S. gained as a result of these activities.

"I know specifically of reports that I read, that I saw, that lay out what we learned through the interrogation process and what the consequences were for the country," Cheney said.
