Two points:
Number one, you don't fix the economy by taxing money away from the businesses and giving it to their customers to buy things from the business. It's even worse if you just print the money out of nothing.
Number two, not to belabor a goddam point for the thousandth time, it is NOT the Federal government that pays teachers, cops, firefighters, and local government administrators. Nor is it the Federal government that has built in the past or should be building the vast majority of infrastructure in this country. You want a highway, talk to your local highway department. You want more cops, talk to the mayor. But it's no FUN when it's YOUR money, is it?
