Number One
It used to be that the government taxed us to do things the government was supposed to do. For much of our history we didn't even NEED an income tax, except for an emergency one for the Civil War. And it went away when it was no longer needed.
Now most of the Federal government consists of social wealth redistribution, for which there is no upper limit. The size of the Federal government is insane, and the budget is collapsing.
Most of the "tax cuts" in Obama's program were "stimulus" checks written to consumers at the expense of the businesses and wealthy that actually create jobs. Same shell game. It was stupid when Bush did it, too.
