'"If the UN gets on board, maybe we can have a treaty (with teeth) making possession of all such weapons illegal."
Ah, are we to do away with them as well? What about France, GB, China, Russia? '
You are both missing the point. This is about Iraq agreement to terms of ending the war. If Iraq had not signed on the dotted line, we wouldn't be having the resulting sanctions and no fly zones. Without this understanding it's impossible to understand why the US is taking it's current position- you would think the US some power crazed nation.
Saddam has and intends to build more WMD- if you don't understand that, you are pretty clueless. As it stands now, Iraq can never have or build WMD- this was it's price of starting a unprovoked war which resulted in hundreds of thousands of dead people and massive suffering.
If you start a forest forest fire you are responsible for all the loss of property and lives that result from that forest fire. Now, what punishment is handed down, would depend on numerous circumstances.
Saddam is responsible for *ALL* loss of life that resulted from it's invasion and since he's not *really* ended the war (by complying with it's terms) Saddam will be responsible for all loss of life related to this war until he complies (or his replacement complies).
