I could get into this Fisking Festival, but I won't. It's all rather simple, really.
I would like to assume/believe that they (the administration) knows something I don't or has some angle I don't see... But this whole thing looks like a darn disaster to me on so many levels...
Maybe the whole thing boils down to this, doesn't it? Given the information available to the general public, and discarding all the evidence of Saddam concealing his destructive capacity, one either has to assume Bush knows something important you don't, (have you been missing the morning briefings at the White House?) or that he, Rice, Powell, Rumsfeld, and all the rest are incompetent boobs who are doing this for no rational reason.
It is ludicrous to assume that our government can broadcast all the intelligence they are using, and still operate effectively, so at bottom we are left with trusting Bush and his administration, or not.
For now, I trust Bush. Sure as hell I trust him more than Saddam. Given how the American system works, you have to trust the President to some extent. Hell, the man carries around the goddam Button. They ALL did. Think about that a while.
Obviously, we aren't going to know the whole story until after the fact. Then we'll see. Like I wrote to Bowser a long time back, about six months from now one of us was going to be very sorry about our position.
