<...if a fetus is so valuable, does that mean right-to-lifers will go to bat to get pregnant women appropriate medical care and nutritional assistance regardless of their income? I mean, if the fetus has a "right to life", does the quality of the life count, or does it get to start out with spina bifida because its mother had no money for folic acid supplements?
If a woman knows about folic acid at all, she can get it. It's about a penny a day. Nobody's that poor. There are also cereals available on food stamps that supply 100 percent of the requirement. In California, less than 4 percent of mothers do not receive proper prenatal care. It's covered under Medi-Cal with coverage for people up to 200 percent of poverty level.
I get a little tired of people talking like nothing is being done for the poor in this country.
