"Question: How long will the present Administration be able to support social programs, nation-building, and a tax cut all at the same time? Which social programs will be cut first? Hint: old people vote. Fetuses don't."
If all else fails, blame Bush. [the sound of one knee, jerking...] Bush is not his whole administration, and the question would remain relevant no matter which man or which party were spending more than it raised. Social programs always go first, no matter who's doing the cutting, and they go in order of least political fallout. Fetuses don't vote, and many of the eventual mothers are too young, by law.
As far as me trying to "read your mind," all I read was your comment, "I mean, if the fetus has a "right to life", does the quality of the life count, or does it get to start out with spina bifida because its mother had no money for folic acid supplements?"
If that's not a rhetorical shot at conservatives, I don't know what is.
So... deal with it, instead of dismissing it with before you play the "Conservatives-are-heartless-bastards Card" - or was that a flinch? No matter how 'Right-to-Lifers' cast their ballots (though it probably has a measure of predictability), the fact remains that they care nothing for the quality of the life the mother and child will have - only that a child is delivered. Oh, but of course... guaranteed pre-natal care is collectivism; we can't have that, can we? Children that can't be properly cared for are an individual issue... until the county or state Children's Services removes them by court order from the mother's care.
By the way, did you notice that your second and third links contain precisely the same information, and that none of them addressed the actual care available, only the standards of eligibility? I wonder: who instituted those programs, whatever they may be - that is, which administration? - and how long might they survive once Congress wakes up to the deficit?
