Actually if you look at all the Western governments there don't seem to be any right wing parties that favor abolishing socialised medicine. That's because it works so well. It becomes like general welfare, unemployment insurance, etc.
It works well because health care is almost impossible to abuse. While some people might cheat on welfare they rarely cheat on health. When you are sick you go to the doctor or hospital. When you're not sick most people don't want to go near a doctor.
Also there is little reason to believe it is inefficient, the figures show it is much much cheaper. The US is the last not to have it, and there isn't a single right wing Western party that would follow the US in this.
Like any system, some implementations are better than others. The best way seems to be the state means tests it and just pays the bills to the doctor and hospital direct like any insurance company would. The system is identical to private insurance except the government gets the money from taxation instead of premiums. Some even have a specific tax surcharge for it.
I can tell you though, if it ever comes no one will ever vote to get rid of it. No one ever has in a democracy.
