ROTFLMAO! Oh Techie, you are soooooo funny.
You have taken an observation of mine and turned me into some kind of a "socialist this or that image". It's people like you who will keep us in the stone age of gas consuming vehicles for the foreseeable future.
I have no problem with people who own SUV's who actually live out in the country or like camping, hiking or off-roading. I don't mind the soccer moms. But you don't NEED a gas buring SUV to shuttle your family around in. You just don't. And you don't have to have one just because you CAN. Americans are image conscious...and SIZE DOES MATTER! It's the American way. And I guess they all feel good that can own and drive one. Fer chrissakes, they're so cheap these days! The last of a dying breed. Pick one up while you can afford them, because soon you'll be pouring all your extra money into to just to get to the next town! Tourism will be down. Big time.
And I just filled up MY tank today and noticed gas is climbing steadily here in Florida. $1.71 for regular and $1.91 for premium. And it's just beginning. I forsee prices getting to $2.40 a gallon and staying there, at least until the election (Can you say "UNCLE"?)

I'd like to think we're all a lot more realistic than YOU.
I traded in my Mustang for a sporty 4 cylinder and I get close to 40 mpg. now. I"m IN PLACE for the gas crunch. Where are you?
