Responsibility is:
[a] Not somebody else's job, but yours.
[b] More than living within one's means - something a great many Americans are incapable of, anyway. In other words, not everything you can afford is necessary (let alone desirable, or a "God-given right") merely because you can afford it.
We can't tell people what to drive. The people can tell the manufactories what we should be driving though.
And some of us people are trying to do just that.
