re: One explanation

Well, congrats on a very thoughtful post. Edifying.

What sways my thinking on this issue is the experience of a lifetime. First, I'm convinced, without clear evidence yet, that homosexuality is largely if not completely genetic. Having known a lot of homosexuals, I'm not aware of any that were enticed into it, who chose it, who wanted it.

The thing that clinches that perception for me is my own rather visceral distaste for the acts FOR ME. Don't think I could be homosexual if I wanted, and I believe that's genetic.

So, the way I see it and not the way anyone else necessarily has to see it, if you cannot "recruit" into the practice, if it's genetic, then the biggest "sin" would be to never find anyone, never make that bond, never experience and live a committed relationship.

Secondly, having had great friends who are homosexual, knowing them very well, never having been proseltyzed, I regard them as exactly like me except for their sexual preference. Or maybe it's my sexual preference.

So whether she were homosexual or hetersexual, I would be greatly saddened if one of my children had been unable to find a companion and form a commitment. Going through life alone, that's a tragedy. Each of our lives is identical, in that it's just a little bit more than we can handle by ourselves. Fortunately that hasn't happened. Thank God and the influence of a great mother, I think.

Again, great post. Thanks.
