Don't blame me for answering your question, ya freak.
At the risk of your derision for addressing another of your questions ("I defy anyone here to show me why that did not piss off the Islamists far more than toppling Saddam did."):
Invading Iraq pissed off a lot more than Islamists. It also pissed off (and threatened) all countries with Islamic populations. Many muslims in the world think that America is their enemy. It does not matter much if they are right or wrong (though in the cases of Phil, Scott, and DM, they are right), it matters only that that is what they believe [reminding you in advance that you asked about "pissed off"]. This is not a good thing for America. A lot of kids are growing up in these countries thinking that attacking America is a good and heroic thing to do. More now than before. The more Muslims we kill, the more countries we invade, the more Islamic countries we threaten, the worse this gets.
I appreciate that the hawkish view that prevails here is that all we need to do is get them all to fear us and our problems will be over. I tell you that when we get them all to fear us, then our problems will begin to peak.
As to your equating the Japanese "insurgency" to what we face in Iraq: that's just stupid and you know it. Try the Philippines or Malaysia or Sri Lanka for a real comparison.
And yes, I did read your list of things that are bad about the insurgents.

You very specifically asked: "if we hadn't invaded Iraq, what would Zarqawi and the other goons be doing right now?"
