About war..........
Wars have been fought differently througout history.
For example, African war was a ceremonial posturing until Shaka Zulu reversed a centuries old tradition in favor of fighting to win.
Territorial acquisiton was important and an objective to some, but not universal. The Mongolian hordes of the Step peoples generally did not occupy the lands they conquered.
History has seen war re-invent itself as a tactic, a strategey and goal for different cultures.
It will take a long view of history for future generations to explain why we went to war in Viet Nam, and the same look will be given to Iraq.
Rightly or wrong, our grandchildren will settle on the "reasons" long after the results are in.
