Ok
The three days away point is STUPID given that all our fatalities have occured before leaving the Earth's atmosphere or upon return. I have never in 6 years of debating these issues heard a moon firster address this issue head on.
I'm not sure if you are serious and this even needs to be said, but OBVIOUSLY there is a potential for fatalities BEYOND earth orbit. Apollo 13 had a potentially fatal problem BEYOND earth orbit. If they were on their way to Mars they would have all died.
I'm as gung ho to send humans to Mars as anyone, but I don't want it to be a suicide mission. We haven't been beyond LEO in over 30 years. A few test runs to the Moon is a good idea.
