Check your premises

I think you may have the definitions of the current liberal and conservative movements exactly backwards. Who believes humans to be perfectible, and who thinks that society must have safeguards because humans aren't perfect? Who's trying to change things, and who keeps saying we shouldn't? Foreign policy, Social Security, and a number of other issues have Republicans rocking the boat and Democrats saying that we should leave it alone.

What new ideas have Democrats come up with recently? All I'm seeing is rehashed 1960s and Cold War rhetoric.

To be blunt, I don't give a crap about bin Laden's biography, any more than I care that Hitler wanted to be an artist, or that Tim McVeigh won medals in the Gulf War. It's totally irrelevant to how we deal with them here and now, unless they have something in their history that allows us to nip other loonies in the bud. See the Wahhabi stuff below.

You keep banging around like a bug in a bottle, convinced that there's some way to "approach" terrorism that will make them stop without anyone getting hurt. I have seen this attitude in a lot of people, and not just in politics. The idea that somehow if you just hold enough meetings, and talk about something long enough, you'll find the answers.

I'm not afraid of any questions you're asking. You aren't hearing my answers.

And as with a lot of other issues, liberals aren't interested in some of the real, working answers.

Here's one: Much of the current Islamist movement is driven from Wahhabi teachings mostly based and heavily-financed in Saudi Arabia. Much of Muslim education in the U.S. is currently funded and controlled from these sources. Now what? Do we actually deal with the wellsprings of terrorism in our own nations, or do we hit the brick wall of political correctness? Have you noticed the liberal responses to the terror cell discovered in California?

Action, or status quo?

Here's another: The largest hole in U.S. security is our borders. They need to be slammed shut. Now.

Action, or status quo? Admittedly, Republicans have failed miserably to step up to this one, too.
