Chain reaction.

Low wage & minimum wage jobs typically taken by kids out of high school or the uneducated lower class are taken up by illegals.

Fast food industry
Warehouse
Gardeners
Farm hands

This equals millions of jobs!

All those kids and uneducated workers now compete for a smaller pie. They must try for check out clerk at supermarkets, the manager of a fast food place, etcetera.

The side effect though is now those jobs ALSO com with minimum wage or very near minimum wage pay! Simply becasue they have enough bodies competing for ANY lower skill job! So the illegals don't just take up the minimum wage jobs, they offset the whole wage scale!

This creates a chain reaction.

All lower managerial jobs can now pay lower wages, add more weekly hours and give less benefits.

This then even offsets the higher managerial and sales positions. Who also get more hours, perhaps less commission earnings, and less benefits than before.

It's all linked.

You can't throw 10 million illegals at the US work force and not expect them to have a huge impact on the payscale and unemployment rates.

The chain reaction effect is more keenly felt because of competition. If one company is saving millions yearly by lowering wages for all employees - other companies must follow suit, or find their marketshare and profits diminished.

Wal-mart is a prime example of this low wage exploitation and competition that lowers wages throughout the entire retail sales industry. Not surprisingly, they have been caught using illegals for menial labor.

Such practices bring down the quality of life for all Americans. Even the CEOs whose practices and decisions contribute to this, are competing more fiercely for positions. The skilled workers suffer because their unions can't negotiate good contracts with companies seeking to save bucks.

Then as the companies that don't reduce wages do poorly, they seek to merge or be bought out. This reduces further the white collar jobs and often wholesale reductions in executive positions are the result.

One has to see the big picture Robert. Those folks running across the border as I write this post ARE having a HUGE impact on America, and not a positive one.

And yes, I agree Bush has done diddly squat.
