I would like that but it is not a requirement. If we lose the cultural war we probably deserve to lose. In fact, I suspect that Asian culture will alter us significantly if it doesn't assimilate us.
To borrow terms from MA's post the melting pot seems right to me and the salad bowl does not.
I believe that our goal (or our fate) as humans should be homogeneity. This does not exclude diversity. Diversity will always be with us in the equivalent of Chinese restaurants, pizza parlors and sectional nuances.
On the other hand, a checkerboard of culturally distinct villages spead over the world is not an appealing future imo.
