you may have misundersood me

I don't shutter at being assimilated by Asian culture nor do I even think it would be a bad thing. I like a lot of things about Asian culture.

First of all it will not be total assimilation. We will alter that culture significantly in the process or theirs will alter ours if we prevail. In a hundred years the language may not be English as we know it but it won't be Chinese either. Whatever it is we will be happy with it and all sides may think they have won.

The world I don't want to see is a world with Chicago as an Arab language, Islamic city state and Kansas City as a English speaking, Christian stronghold. I don't like that picture even if they are coexisting peacefully.

Also, don't think that I mean anything violent by culture war. The bombs of culture war are Levis, Disney World, Martial Arts, popular technology and McDonalds.

Yes we are the current masters of assimilation but the Chinese are catching up. They are no longer the threat to peace that they were 50 years ago and they are doing some very smart things. And, there are lots of them.
