Empathy

Let's say you were the grandfather or grandmother of a girl who was raped, killed and, thank God, then burned, and her 5-year old sister, who apparently was just mercifully killed. Let's say your son or daughter was the mother or father, mercifully killed first.

Iraqi troops occupying your neighborhood did this. Iraqi troops who are immune from American law, because they break so many of them.

Would you want to do as much damage to Iraq as you could? Would you care if there were "innocent" people on, say, an airliner, people who paid the taxes to pay the troops who were being paid even as they were killing your children and grandchildren? Would you become a "terrorist" under those or similar circumstances?

If you can't understand this scenario, it's because you regard Iraqis as animals, who don't hate people who, torture, rape and slaughter their loved ones, friends, neighbors. (One of "our" conservatives does just that. He, for instance, thinks Afghani get used to it, especially if they are thrown a few "goodies" He suggests that they learn to "kiss ass". Absolutely regards 'em as animals.)

Iraq launches its own probe of rape-slay case
"Decision comes despite charges being filed against 5 U.S. soldiers"

"He said the panel interviewed witnesses and inspected the house where Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, 14, was raped, shot dead and set on fire, allegedly by a group of U.S. soldiers who had observed her for days. Also killed in the house were her 5-year-old sister and parents."
