Tom the question doesn't come down to naming exact threats. It's simply the perception of the worst case scenario. A theocracy could become the next Inquisition. Corporate power grabs could become rampant fascism. People could start disappearing from their homes because they protest the current government. All things are possible if power continually is sought and granted. There are certainly no guarantees and I think our citizenry would put up the BS flag before we got to that point but the irony here is biting.
We cannot preemptively attack countries because we believe that sometime in the future those countries will do us great harm. Scott said exactly that and I was calling him on the hypocrisy of that statement. Logic works but one way Tom and you don't get to change the rules because of your political alignment. If what Scott said was true than the laws of logic said that it was alright for me to hunt neo-cons because I believe them to possibly be a mortal threat to my family in the future because of worst case scenario.
If, as I believe, the neo-cons have as their stated aim, the desire to create a fundamentalist Christian nation presided over exclusively by a unitarian chief executive, then the logical presumption is that someone not of the chosen faith would at best become a second-class citizen and at worst be horribly persecuted. The Bush theory of preemption compels me thus to take mortal action against the threat.
Of course that is absurd. You'd turn the fundamentalists you murdered into martyrs for the cause, create fear and panic among the less radical Christians, and actually bring down more hardship against yourself in the end. Is this beginning to sink in? Somehow I doubt it.
Interesting how you once again jumped in to defend one of your cronies before he could defend his stance. You do that a lot you know. Afraid they'll stumble and not be up on the latest talking points?
