Oh, did that bother you?

Wow, I'm being lectured in ethics by the likes of Lee. That must be some kind of an honor.

Let's humor you a little bit here Lee in your comparisons of putting people in the stocks for a short bit of public humiliation and the true gross violations of their human rights that the current administration seems hell bent to impose on our citizens.

First, the stocks were simply that, a public humiliation tool which, to my knowledge, was used for extremely short periods of time and people left the experience with only their pride wounded and their shirts stained from the vegetables heaved at them. I doubt there were many return offenders.

Let's compare this to the loss of habeus corpus in recent legislation. Under that specter, a full citizen can simply be scooped up from his home without supporting evidence simply for being suspected of being an enemy combatant. You can be whisked away for an unlimited amount of time without the knowledge of your family or the consultation of counsel. Under the new rules of torture, you can be waterboarded and subjected to extremes of temperature or sleep deprived. If it just so happens that you expire because your heart gives out, tough shit. You're simply a casualty of war.

When I need your opinion on an intelligent subject, I'll holler Lee. Don't hold your breath.
