Truly Amazing How Some Can't Think Ahead

Year after year Saddam cheated and retreated in the face of threats of force growing ever more bolder as those threats got hollower and hollower finally throwing the inspectors out, yet some people couldn't or wouldn't see the pattern. Worse yet are those that refuse to be honest about the pattern in hind site.

Frankly I'm not even sure what a neocon is supposed to be eventhough I know who that term is directed at. It's meaning as a jingoism is far less obvious than for example "cut and run". But what is clear is prior to the war a huge majority of Americans did see the pattern, thought if he's cheating he must have something to hide and that was a major factor in support for the war. Turns out it wasn't wmd, maybe it was all the bribes he was paying to France and the kickbacks he was hiding which might have been uncovered through inspection of financial records. The support of the media for the war at that time has been bogusly portrayed as evidence for lack of media bias against the Iraq war which is bogus given most Democrats in Congress supported starting the war and teh war was an issue about protecting America in most people's minds not primarily a means to weaken Bush.

You may think the last paragraph proves your point because so many Americans were wrong. It doesn't, the issue is that you think the UN program was working. It was broke, only a huge uptick in sabre rattling let inspectors back in and Saddam begain to backtrack as soon as his payees made wishy washy noises. Without inspectors in Iraq Saddam would have been free to return to his ways of old and there is no way you can gaurantee he wouldn't. Of course maybe France's grand altruistic strategy was to make Saddam so fat and happy on kickbacks he had no interests other than partying in his many palaces therebye justifying the payments to French officials as for the good of mankind.
