You know, I was about launch a few pages of the authoritarian things the Left would like to enact to protect us from the "dangers" they believe are real. Global warming. Health problems. Environmental issues. Economic "imbalance." You name it. (Islamic terrorism is not on this list, any more than communism ever was.)
Wouldn't do much good, though, would it?
When somebody comes in from government and wants to control part of my life, odds are damn good it's a Democrat doing it. For my own good, of course, to protect me from some danger that often, only he sees. This kind of thing is happening right now, unlike the imaginary terrors you say we have to be "vigilant" against, the terrible damage to the Constitution that is being declared mostly by anti-Bush zealots, and does not stand up when you look at the actual documents or laws.
Yet, on this side of "authoritarianism" you are completely blind. I'm not surprised that people like Stone and Altemeyer firmly believe there is no such thing as leftist authoritarianism. Fish, wet, all that.
