Space/Science » in reply to re: Prove it

You are sitting in a chair watching TV and you notice your keys are not in your pocket.

You sit in your chair a bit longer and consider the possibilities. Well, you changed pants after work, so maybe the keys are still in the pocket of your other pants. In some cases, you have accidently left your keys in the back door lock, when you let yourself in. Maybe they are still in your car. Or maybe a little person clown from a circus, sneaked them out of your pocket somehow, while you were sitting there.

You consider it for a while longer. Then you call your buddy on a cell phone. You tell him that you think a clown stole your car keys. Alarmed, he asks you why you think that's true. You reply that it's just a theory, but you have a hunch it is true, none-the-less. He asks if you saw a clown in your house. You reply no, but there are numerous accounts of clowns in literature. And there was a circus in town a few weeks ago. He asks if you can't just check your car for the keys. You say that that would be a good proposal for future research, but you are pretty sure it was the clown. Your friend tells you he doesn't think it is very likely that a clown stole your car keys.

*You demand that he prove that a clown did not steal your car keys.*

Your friend calls you hours later and finds you still have not resolved the key issue. You reiterate that you are pretty sure about the little clown theory. Exasperated, he says that's the silliest idea he's ever heard.

*You point out that you are still waiting for him to prove that it was not a little clown.*
