Fast film of the trails could give an idea of the shape and power of the shock wave- sadly, it was science in the name of mayhem...
The interesting thing is, the most destructive power seems to be naturally beautiful to the human eye- A nuke or a H-bomb test is beautiful- a tornado is beautiful, a lightning display is beautiful (even though these things create great evil)- I think it is the power expressed in those events that really attracts us- a few 10's of millennia maybe the glowing ember of a forest fire attracted one of us- and thus began a long story of experimentation with the forces of nature... I dont think we are that different after 10's of millennia, we just know more. The only thing separating us from the near animals say 50,000 years ago is our culture and technology we have created- if you interrupt that for a generation or two we are back where we started. That is why I think we need to be so careful....

Thank you- that makes sense...
