The first folks to watch their hut burn down, after being struck by lightning, felt powerless to stop the disaster unfolding before their eyes. Instead they cursed some made-up deities or begged forgiveness from the same.
Now we know water will put out a fire, and need not perform some senseless ritual because it "feels good" to do so and seems better than doing nothing. CO2 musical chairs and other stuff may "feel good" but the person praying to BAAL would've been better served grabbing water - likewise if global warming has another cause, which is very likely, and we let the CO2 folks leade everyone down a false path - our home burns down just as surely as if we were spending our time cursing or praying to deities for assistance.
No limitations.
That's a maxim man must learn to hold dear.
