Waiting might also open a wound beginning to mend. The shock of reliving the day through his eyes after some time has elapsed might even be worse.
The parents and VT can express their anger and dismay, but they have no standing to sue. NBC's offense was one of taste, not a legal one. They turned the tape over to the police immediately.
The murderer is no different from murderers who leave notes or write letters to the newspapers which are subsequently published. He left video instead, which is a mark of his generation.
Copycat criminals have been around for a long time. I only hope that, if there are more people planning similar crimes, that they, too, take a two-hour break between killings. The police are not likely to forget this group of crimes, and will be looking for similar behavior.
