Power drills, or cars, can be used as lethal weapons. But unlike guns, they are NOT DESIGNED as lethal weapons. That significant difference is why healthy people can own drills or cars, but would not bother with guns. Your comparison is valid only so far as it shows the human element of choice and intention, in committing a violent crime. On that we agree - I am not saying the prevalence of guns in the US is the ONLY cause of your high gun homicide rate. Human action comes into it too. That is where your point about box cutters is valid. At the same time it should be instantly obvious to even a gibbering drooling moron, that the high prevalence of gun ownership is closely connected to the gun homicide rate. That is why I am so fed up with those of you who refuse to make that simple connection. Claiming that guns are merely a tool like drills or cars is utterly dishonest UNLESS you are a farmer or in some other profession which absolutely requires the use of guns. Guns are designed for killing - most of them for killing people - wheareas cars and power tools are not. Duh. Even granted the human element, your comparison is dishonest and self-serving.
