Starts in a common manner.

How many times do parents say, "You make me so mad, happy, or frustrated?" The parent makes the child responsible for the parent's feelings.

So obviously the kid starts thinking that other people are responsible for what HE feels, too.

Kids are almost never taught that they choose how they respond to situation, and that NO ONE MAKES them feel anything - it's a choice.

This guy was one miserably unhappy soul, unable to connect to other people well, and saw the girl as his salvation, his connection with humanity, worth more than life itself. And that he was powerless to affect the situation. Her perceived rejection and his inability to do anything to affect that, in his mind, "made" him feel he was a powerless, pathectic and abandoned creep. She was responsible, her rejection was the cause.

And he demonstrated his power.

Not much different that OJ or hundreds of thousands of other situations where, usually, a woman dumps a man and he feels rejected, abandoned, worthless, hopeless and powerless. And acts out.

Except, of course, in scale. Truly a tragic matter, with no winners, only losers.
