Warning signs

Warning signs are not a great warning... I have known a LOT of people that showed a lot of warning signs, yet not a one killed anyone. In undergrad Physics I knew a kid that came to our study sessions and almost never said a word, he would walk out of the study session without saying a word, he was a loner, - once I left a study session to use a bathroom shortly after he walked out- I stumbled across him in a stairwell- he was pounding his head against a cinderblock wall- I ignored this and simply told him that one of the hardest problems had been solved and that the study group was discussing it... He gave me a blank look and said 'OK' and went back to the group... his forehead was red and bruised... As far as I know he never killed anyone...

He certainly was a crazy, self destructive loner, but he wasnt a murderer.... had he been the subject of intervention and treated like a potential killer I think it would have been worse. At the universities I attended several people were killed, some by guns... NEVER was the campus shut down... The press is trying hard to crucify the university in this case... but the facts are you cant prevent this in a large city sized university...
heck, if you shut down a campus any time a murder happened I think campus murders would skyrocket-

This was horrible, and evil- crucifying the police for not forseeing it is stupid...
