re: I don't hunt either.

At least not anymore, but I was raised around guns with hunting the main reason along with skeet shooting and with my relatives in law enforcement they have pounded in me the right and wrong of gun handling. If someone handed me a gun and I didn’t immediately open to expose the chamber and see if it was loaded I would have been doomed.

I got my first shotgun at age 15, a bolt action 410 and my first black n blue shoulder from skeet shooting. I used to get teased about a 410 being a women’s gun but when I challenged them to take a dove with it they failed miserably and I would get back at them for having to shoot a little dove with their powerful semi-auto 12 gauges. Up until 96 we used to shoot the clay birds with a launcher on my land and my wife would surprise us on how good she became with 16 ga.

I miss the taste of game meat and trading a couple pheasants, quail or dove for some elk among hunters.

Most of my collection has been handed down. 1957 30-30 Winchester lever action my uncle won at the state fair skeet shooting, 1910 octagon barrel 22 pumps (1 good, 1 needs work), 1940 H/R 16 ga. Single shot and a WWll military issue revolver to name a few.

As far as engineering, my stainless steel S/R Redhawk 44 mag. has to be the smoothest revolver I have ever shot. I don’t own any handguns with clips anymore.

With all that said guns have always scared me a bit, but it is because some just don’t have a clue, even the so-called hunter. I remember having to hit the deck when you hear pellets blazing through the trees above you.

It’s nice to hear some relief here.
