It's simply a reflection of a larger truth: America is a conservative nation.
What this country wants out of the Democrats is Republican-lite. When people vote Dem, they expect to see maybe a few new programs, but what they got this time was an attempt to reformat the harddrive. They're just not interested.
I support the President, but clearly most Americans no longer do.
