There's no "terminology" problem, unless it's desperately trying to avoid terminology at all.
"Progressives" spend a lot of time revising or fogging over labels and definitions, with the primary goal to obscure what they actually stand for.
"Liberal" used to imply support of liberty and individual freedom. Now it is becoming synonymous with "statist," a person who supports government control at some level of almost everything we do.
It is instructive that I have posted numerous examples of state encroachments on our personal freedoms and choices, and many of the "liberals" here have almost universally cheered them on.
