^Me, I want neither governments nor corporations to have the upper hand. Both are capable of great harm if allowed to act without check and balance.^
This is certainly true in the abstract. The point I'm trying to pound home is that governments are far, far more likely to crush freedom in a society than a corporation is. Any proper balance needs to take this into account. The planet is strewn with the bones of entire nations that have fallen to government tyranny. Even the worst excesses of the Gilded Age pale in comparison.
Seriously, how many people fear a corporation busting down their door in the middle of the night? Mostly we worry about them cheating us out of our money if we're not careful. The government can just take it.
As for the Supreme Court decision, the Democrats are wailing and rending their garments over the ruling on corporations and free speech. Most of them are lying about what the ruling entails.
