Look not far from the narrow field allowed . . .

One such as Saddam Hussein does not rise to power and keep that power without the complicity of his neighbors.

Where is the mighty Iraqi Air force that battled the U.S. during Desert Shield and Desert Storm? You’ll find it still safely tucked away in Iran. Hussein was more than a little miffed when Iran refused to return the aircraft and pilots after the U.S. withdrawal.

Where are the WMD that could, and would, be used in any international war crimes hearing? You’ll likely find the damning evidence safely tucked away in Syria -- .along with a flock of damned Iraqi leaders. Syria is now on shaky ground -- and they know it.

Curious that the sites inspected did not hold the appearance of being deserted, but rather of being “swept clean.” A forensics nightmare.

In reality -- far from the madding fantasies of journalistic pomp -- the evidence may soon be unearthed, in both Iraq and Syria, or not. Like Hitler’s secret bunker in downtown Berlin, it may not be found for another 50 years. Satty resolution is fine for revealing recent dig-sites where layered soils may be found in disarray, but the shifting sands of the desert hides criminal intent with ease.
