Re: Somebody has to answer

<If Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, why did the Iraqi regime behave exactly as though they did?
I didn't have that impression at all; they DID invite the inspectors back, didn't they?

Including going to war instead of fully cooperating with the U.N.?
Troops here and there thought they'd have a chance if they resisted, as long as the capital was still under their control but it didn't last long and it depends where (Baghdad was emptied of the Iraqi soldiers when the Americans arrived.

Why did they watch the inspectors like hawks? Why turn over fake paperwork? Why did they resist the disarmament process tooth and nail?
There's a lot about arab psychology, perhaps.
They were living under the threat of their superiors (in a dictatorship) so, being tough on the inspectors, or not helping them directly could come good to Saddam's eyes, they thought.

Why did they threaten scientists with death? Why did they move things around?
I'm not sure this was the case the last time the inspectors came. They were allowed to interview the scientists.

Why bust your ass hiding something you don't have?
How can you hide someting you don't have?
