As I recall it was my views on homosexuality that gave everyone spasms the last time.
In a nutshell, in my views if you feel persecuted by others - you have persecuted others and are in many ways fearing yourself. Simple signal feedback.
If you go around with a Bush/Cheney sticker on your car, there are bound to be some folks who leer at you nastily when they drive near you. Same goes for Kerry/Edwards stickers. The Bush Cheney sticker is also a condemnation of Kerry Edwards. It assaults those on the left. Vice-versa for the Kerry/Edwards sticker. Andrew Sullivans advocate stance on homosexuality is also a quiet condemnation and attack on heterosexuality. So if you advertise your sexual preferences and your e-mail address, as Andy does, and then act shocked when you attract folks writing hostile e-mails, well that's really a no-brainer.
Andrew Sullivan has weighted his entire political perspective on this one issue because of a persecution complex. Persecution complexes are formed by a combination of superiority/inferiority feelings. Sullivan feels superior to many and yet his sexual preferences leave him feeling somewhat abnormal and subsequently inferior. Thus is born the persecution complex.
Folks who feel persecuted are obsessed with it. They read between lines, they seek out hostile glances and are sure folks are talking about them behind their backs. The gay-activist community suffers from widespread persecution complexes. Are they persecuted? Sure, to a degree. But it's partly because of this subtle attack that it represents to those who feel and act differently. Everyone's persecuted to a degree. People mutter "lard-ass" under their breath when an obese person is seen. Kids and adults with disabilities of one form or another have been called "retard" and "crip." The short are belittled. The tall are gawked at. From hairlip to pegleg folks have ridiculed anyone that appeared different than the norm.
So Andrew and the gay community in general have to get over their complex. They need to focus on things beside their sexual preferences. Until homosexuality is considered 'normal' there will always be folks who ridicule or diminish others.
Again, from my perspective, these folks are reverse polarities they have a preponderance of certain gender experience quotients in their quantum wave form bodies and it creates various weakened and strengthened attractions.
The same is true for heterosexuals as well. Take a well-adjusted male heterosexual and throw them into a body of the reverse gender and see how they behave. They will find themselves less attracted to men than most women despite the hormone household they now carry. They would exhibit lesbian tendencies. A female heterosexual in a male body would be in the same predicament.
Even the nuances of sexual preference likely find their roots in these past life experiences. If a man has lived many times in a region devoid of blonde haired women - he may develop a fetish for such. A man who lived in the north may experience the same feelings for a olive-skinned brunette from the south.
But back to Sullivan. He needs to realize that only when he protests his persecution does he actually receive and increase any persecution. All this stuff began when the gay marriage bit came up and these persecution-complexed folks stirred up the soup and wanted "equal" rights as husbands and wives. However, a man and a man, a woman and a woman and a man and a woman are not equal arrangements. In a world where religious doctrines have formed 'marriage' as an institution, it is only natural to expect massive resistance to a changing orthodoxy sponsored from outside the church. The 11 state referendums were foregone conclusions.
It's sad that folks feel persecuted. The referendums were really religious defense mechanisms and were less anti-gay than pro-church based values. If others use these as an excuse to actively persecute others, that's even more sad.
It's all about balance. That's all life is...one big cosmic dance of waveforms seeking balance.
If you burn stakes on black folks lawns - you'll end up on the other side of that equation you set into motion. Like the Twilight Zone episode where the U-boat commander finds himself on a ship about to be sunk, you will find yourself the victim of your own hatred and violence. If you find yourself persecuted and your understand the mechanics of these equations you will immediately short-circuit that equation as all the anger, fear and resentment abates as you realize all things are action and reaction.
