Andrew Sullivan is religious, and apparently a Catholic. He was deeply concerned and angry about the priest molestation issue back when that was a prime news item, and had a lot of insightful comments on it.

He is gay, and HIV positive, although thankfully still in good health.

That he is concerned about gay issues is hardly surprising. That he would let this influence his election preferences is hardly surprising either. I seem to recall a few people here who were ready to tilt one way or the other depending on how it might influence the space program.

I believe he is unnecessarily pessimistic about the war in Iraq, but that's a matter of opinion, and I believe, who you listen to.

The man is a great writer, does not let his agenda stand in the way of his reason, and is on my "read every day" blog list.

He has also gotten a hell of a lot of crap from some leftists who consider any gay who isn't in their camp 100 percent on all the issues, a traitor.
