Keep some perspective

First of all, a birthday means you aren't dead yet. That's a good thing, not something to be grouchy about. Any day you wake up alive has the potential to be a good one. Have a good one, sincerely.

Second, it sounds like your side lost the election. It happens. Since I was first old enough to vote (1976), my candidate has lost half of the time (I'm 4/8 at picking winners). Sure, it sucks when your side loses, but that's no reason to get down on life or the people you interact with on a daily basis. Politics shouldn't be such an influence on our daily lives. My wife and I didn't put our lives on hold when Clinton won in 1992 and 1996 even though we though him a terrible president. He really didn't have much influence on our daily lives.

Now, I was in the military when Carter was president. He had a major influence on my daily life, virtually all for the worst.
