He has shared something that's very important to him. It also contributes mightily to his uniqueness as a commentator. It may seem invisible to you -- at least until he appears in public holding another guy's hand.
You can wish not to know things about people. They are still whole people with complicated parts. You can't separate someone's talent from the rest of him.
