Off Topic » in reply to OK, how would you create an acceptable Conservative character?

First, I would start by using an actor who is a conservative

There actually are a few. You know, people who actually know what conservatives believe rather than what leftists think we believe. I'd give those actors the input authority to tell the writers when they're full of it as appropriate, too. I know that actually trying to get things right is more work and doesn't fit the worldviews of a significant percentage of the Hollywood set, but that's what I'd do.

Doing things right is always more work than just reaching deep into the anal data store and making stuff up. For example, if I were developing a movie about inner city kids in New York City, I'd actually interview as many as I could to try and understand what they believe, how they speak, and how they behave. If possible, I'd hire some of them as consultants, extras, and actors to portray inner city life as accurately as possible. Funny how that kind of research never seems to happen when it comes to conservatives.

As for that Reagan movie, people were mad because it often put words falsely in Reagan's mouth, such as his treatment of homosexuals in regards to AIDS. When you show a historical figure, you at least have the responsibility to be as accurate as possible. However, that wasn't the intention of the people who made that movie. They wanted to demonize him.
