Even though it came from TV land, the point about the administrative costs of Medicare being less than 2% was intriguing. Can government really be that more efficient in doling out health care? (Must be a contortion of statistics.) If government could chop through almost 25% of healthcare costs and tax me for the rest, I wonder how it would compare to the $1000 per year I pay for catastrophic coverage just for me and the Mrs.
The other thing I took note of was the 30% tax rate of the African country(?). Yea, that and corruption can hobble an economy but what I keep running into (everywhere for some reason) is the absence of "the rule of law". It's said that developing countries won't get far without foreign investment. It's probably a sure thing that Nike won't be building any factories in Somalia. "Pirates" for crying out loud!?
