Strange definition of "moderate"
I'm watching for a transcript, but in my experience "moderate" when applied to Republicans means a Republican who agrees with Democrats.
That's a revealing statement, Tom. Most people would define a moderate as, in fact, somebody who agrees with the opposition at least part of the time; and an ideal moderate would be somebody at exactly the center who agrees and disagrees with both sides in equal measure.
The Right's managed the impressive trick of even radicalizing moderation. Compromise is a sign of weakness, while stubbornly "staying the course" and digging in your heels is praised as strength. Just as you've turned "Liberal" into an epithet, you seem to be using "moderate" as an epithet as well.
You do understand about backlashes, don't you? A few years ago I'd have described myself as a moderate with Liberal leanings, but after years of insults from the Right I'm quite proud to declare myself a Liberal. Push, and I'll push back. So will millions of other people.
How can you Republicans ensure that America turns Socialist? Win a few more elections.
