Try reading up on counter insurgency tactics sometime. Putting 80% of resources into combat ops, and 20% into groundwork - as we had until recently been doing - is exactly the reverse of what we should have been doing all along.

Try this on for size: We need to set a deadline so that the Iraqis will know that after that point they are on their own. They will have a decent sized and well equipped army to deal with terrorists. We will announce it loudly. This will get their butts in gear.

You dont seem to be able to reconcile two things. For years you've been telling us lesser mortals what a good job the Iraqis have been doing. Now you make it sound we're leaving a little defenceless puppy to a large pack of tigers.

Which one is right? (tough arguing a point one doesnt fully believe in, but your post leaves little option but to become Devil's Advocate)
