Go the route of Europe and pretend that salaries and benefits should have nothing to do with the amount of work actually done?
How would you change things so you never had to worry about being paid, or getting benefits? Can you do this for all the employees in America?
What would you force people to do to make things the way you think they ought to be? Cities, states and corporations are buckling under the gigantic pension benefits promised back in an era when competition around the world was nil. Here in California, state pensions are approaching the critical zone.
Believe me, I know what rough times are like. It's part of life.
