The Bush gang and their supporters are neither a metaphorical reflection of their critics nor are they assholes. What they are is individuals with a profound and single-minded interest in maintaining conditions favorable for themselves and their social class. They don't particularly want to hurt anyone else, but they're perfectly capable of doing so if they think they need to. And they don't give a flying fuck if they do.
