I heard it many years ago in an interview.

He is, or was, an atheist and a doctor. He said that, should he be wrong and that God is real and as described (the personal God of the Bible), he intended to take the tibia of a child who died of bone cancer with him to the Heavenly Throne, brandish it and demand, "What's all this, then?"
