What you see as interest in "protecting America", is just a noble lie to APPEAR they have our countries best interest at heart, when in reality... it is their own damn business capital they're interested in.
They were drunk on power and had every available tool to move forward.

If there were WMD there at all, we SOLD them to them.
We illegally invaded a country that was NO THREAT to us.
That's why we have B-2 bombers, F-117's, stealth bombers and the best Airforce in the whole wide world. The only reason we needed "ground troops" was to secure the oil fields. That came first. Then the looting of their banks and museums.

If they ever get a hold of Cheney's New Years' secret "energy meetings", I'll bet all the answers are there.
How they were going to divvy up the profits and keep America going.
If the meetings were public, I'm sure we'd have had a complaint or two.

By the way, the "democracy thing" is falling flat.
Five years later, we've only secured HALF OF BAGDAD, and STILL they suggest wearing flak jackets. The rest of the country is going up in flames.
